The ancient city of Kandy, where the tea garden was built by James Taylor, the god of tea, is the place where black tea was first grown in Sri Lanka. Tea trees were planted on the site of the former farm, using the mountainous area that was once a coffee plantation. When Taylor succeeded in growing tea, the diseased and withered coffee trees were knocked down one after another, and black tea trees spread in their place. The Peradeniya Botanical Garden in the city was planted and grown with tea saplings and seeds that were once brought from Assam.
Kandy is located in central Sri Lanka, in the low-grown district at an altitude of 400-600 meters. Because the climate is mild and unaffected by seasonal winds, there is no such thing as a quality season, and tea leaves of almost the same quality are harvested throughout the year. The tea leaves have a soft taste with little astringency and a light aroma. The biggest attraction of candy tea is the beauty of light blue. It has a deep orange red color and shine, and the quality of the color is one of the best in the world. Take advantage of this light blue charm and use it for various purposes such as iced tea, variation tea, and blending.
