Roots of tea pickers
What I've been thinking about lately!
The tea pickers in this photo are about 100 years old.
I am Tamil.
About 1 million Tamils work in Sri Lanka's tea plantations.
is.
It is 20% of the population, but 1/4 of them work in tea gardens.
Most of the tea pickers are Tamils.
The British began to cultivate coffee in the 19th century,
Next, as we switch to black tea,
They brought many Tamils with them.
They sailed to the port of Manna, northeast of Ceylon,
From there they walked in groups of several hundred to Kandy.
How did you get started and why did you come to Ceylon?
July 6-13, 2019 "Sri Lankan Tea Travelogue"
Then finally we went to Manna and from there to Kandy
Follow the route and travel.
