December 16: Boston Tea Party ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ On December 16, 1773, the East India Company ships Dartmouth, Elena and Beaver were moored in Boston Harbor picking tea. . In the middle of the night, about 50 colonists, led by Samuel Adams, boarded with axes and swords in their hands. Everyone dressed up as Native Americans. With bird feathers on their heads, faces sewn with paint, and blankets draped over their shoulders, they symbolically displayed the inhabitants of America. The purpose was to boycott Britain's attempts to impose a high tax on tea and collect it from the colonists living in the United States. . This led to active anti-British movements in various places, and in 1776 the United States became independent. . . . Since 2009, it has rebelled against the Obama administration, and the "Boston Tea Party" is still used as a symbolic banner of the political movement. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This Friday (December 16th) marks the 238th anniversary of the Tea Party Incident. It's the day. By the way, the tea that the East India Company ship was carrying was tea from Shozan Xiaoshu (Mt. Wuyi, Kiriki Village) in Fujian Province. . I'm going on tour in April next year!
