Beginning of Bedford Woburn Abbey Afternoon Tea
7th Duchess of Bedford
Anna Maria~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's the third day of the tour. I took a bus from the Cotswolds to Bedfordshire. But I'll be back tonight because I'm staying at the Cotswolds manor house again. . . .
It's raining outside and cold! But on the bus...
This is my second visit to Woburn Abbey in Bedford.
First, in May 2000, I was able to meet the 14th Duke David Stockock.
(Author of Tea Legend: The Country of Tea Discovered by England) Tsuchiya Shoten
The Duke died three years later and is now the 15th Duke.
Of course, there's no way I'll be able to meet him, but I miss him so much that I feel like the 14th generation is about to show up. . . I was so nervous and excited when we first met.
Around 1840, Anna Maria, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, drank tea with sandwiches and baked goods in Woburn Abbey's "Blue Drawing Room" (reception room), starting today's tea with food afternoon tea. I was.
We arrived first thing in the morning, so we were the first tourists, so we were able to take our time and look around.
Anna Maria's portrait is used as the symbol of "Kirin Afternoon Tea" in Japan!
The reception room is decorated in white, blue and gold, and offers a panoramic view of the large garden.
Even though they are no longer there, they can still see the same table, chairs, and probably Anna Maria, the trees and the green lawn. . . .
This room might smell the same...
It's raining outside, deer are running, and lots of sheep are scattered like cotton candy.
Families with small children were enjoying tea outside.
