Sri Lanka tea travelogue 6
During this tour, just on the way to Nuwara Eliya, we received news that a tea picker had gone on strike at a tea plantation outside the Ruhuna area. Mr. Ranjit was glued to the phone collecting information.
Even so, I was able to tour the Love Carry factory and experience tea picking, but I don't know if I'll be able to enter Pedro the next day and Uva's factory the next day. In Pedro, the tea pickers were unable to produce tea due to the lack of harvest.
However, Uva's factory manager contacted me and told me that I shouldn't come to the factory in case of danger... I'm a little shocked!

However, the tea pickers, who had rarely gone on strike until now, stood up and appealed for their lifestyles and the environment.
I want you to get the best possible conditions and work with pride in tea making. I wonder if that is the inheritance to my children who will be connected next...
For tea to survive into the future, someone has to pick it. The more you understand the value of tea, the more you will find value and pride in your work. When I go to a school in a tea garden, I feel that strongly.
