Assam tea travelogue ... No. 6 Meet with the 4th, 5th, and 6th generations of the "people who gave tea" Beesagam This portrait is the Scotsman R. Major Bruce. In 1823, in Manipur (now Shivsagar), he met with Beesagam, chief of the Singpo tribe, and learned that there were tea trees in this area. The Singbo people ate and drank tea and were self-sufficient. Two years later, R. Bruce died, leaving his brother C. A blues takes over. He is currently the 4th chieftain of Beesagam. . The one on the left dressed up as the 5th head of the Singpo tribe. A scroll of an ethnic scarf on the head, a sword, and a handwoven bag. A small head can be seen on the left shoulder of the fifth generation on the left. This is the 6th generation (3 years old). What kind of person was Beesagam? I have been interviewed. He was strong, kind, cared about his ethnicity, and had the ability to negotiate on an equal footing with an Englishman he had never met before. He is still respected by the people and will never be forgotten! The fourth generation spoke with pride. . A pistol given to me by the Governor General of England. It was rusty, but it was a testament to how trustworthy Beesagam was. This is the current chieftain's residence (high-floor style).
